Mandeville Primary School

Welcome to Mandeville Primary School

Outside Mandeville Primary SchoolAt Mandeville Primary School, we aim to provide an inclusive, caring and supportive environment, which has high expectations and values all members of the school community. We recognise and respect the needs and aspirations of all individuals and provide opportunities for all pupils to make the best possible progress and attain the highest personal achievements.

Pupils at Mandeville enjoy their learning and achieve highly. This success is as a result of a strong partnership between all members of the school community - pupils, parents/carers, staff and governors.

"All staff are highly dedicated professionals, committed not only to enabling pupils to make the very best progress, but also to helping them become independent, reflective learners. They also have a real sense of fun!" (Ofsted Inspection Report, June 2009)

Our intention is for this site to tell you a little about our school and what we value. Please browse through the pages and read the information available. We hope that you find it useful but strongly believe that you can best appreciate what we do by coming to see us. If you are a parent/carer considering Mandeville as a school for your child, we would encourage you to contact the school office and speak to Mrs Lee Attridge to arrange a visit. We look forward to meeting you and to answering any questions you have about the provision your child will receive here. We would be proud to show you around our school so you can see learning in action!

Sustainable Travel Success

Thank you to all parents/carers for helping Mandeville Primary School achieve a significant reduction in car journeys to school. Our latest pupil hands-up survey shows the proportion of children travelling to school by car is down from nearly 39% last year to an average of 26% this year. Park & Stride is up, as is scootering and cycling.

This is a fantastic result and reflects a number of sustainable travel initiatives the school is running this term to encourage pupils and parents/carers to make more sustainable journeys to and from school. These include Bike to School Week, scooter training, pedestrian skills training and our Walk to School Month of which we are half-way through. Please continue to support these initiatives when you can by using alternatives to the car including walking, scootering, cycling and Park & Stride.

Golf Competition

When we got to the competition, Mrs Barrett welcomed us and took the register. We were one of the first schools to arrive at Birchwood.

After that we all went onto the Astroturf. Soon after that we practised golf for a couple of minutes then we were called up for our first activity. We had to hit the ball in the air over the blue line and that got our team 5 points. If you did that then you could try and chip it into the red hoop and that was another 5 points for the team.

The games carried on and the scores were racked up and then we all sat in the middle of the field and the person who had organised the games told us the scores in reverse order. We came fourth out of eight teams.

That was very good considering we had not been to a golf tournament before and some of us had only played golf once! We had a total of over 750 points!
