Category of Governor: Parent
Term of Office: 01/04/2022-31/03/2026
Positions of Responsibility: Member of the Curriculum and Standards Committee and Focus Link Governor for Children Looked After/Previously Looked After, Special Education Needs and Disabilities, and Wellbeing/Mental Health. I am also the Curriculum Subject Link Governor for PSHE.
In my role as a Governor of the school I can confirm that I have no business interests connected to the school or any other educational establishment, nor do I have any relationship with any other Governor or member of staff of the school.
I have one child in Year 4 at Mandeville and another at the local secondary school. As a Governor, I am keen to work with the current Governors to support Mandeville School. I have previously worked as a volunteer in Mandeville; in the classroom, on visits and with the PTA.
Professionally I have over 20 years’ experience working in the field of mental health and disability management in the workplace, and more recently I became qualified as an adult and child counsellor. I work in private practice and have also worked in a primary school as volunteer counsellor. Recently, I have taken on the role of Counsellor at a local secondary school. I have spent a year completing a Parent Adoption course through Herts County Council and I have been a regular speaker at the Herts Adoption training course for new adoptive parents for the last 2 years. I hope to utilise my experience and interests, to bring new ideas to the table in relation to working with children with SEN (Special Educational Needs) and managing/preventing mental ill health in schools; in addition to supporting the excellent work that Mandeville is already doing in these areas.
